Welcome to Forest UMC in Forest, Mississippi

Welcome!

Welcome to Forest United Methodist Church! We are located in downtown Forest, the county seat of Scott County. The population of Forest nears 5,600. The census shows that as many as 5 to 6 ethnic groups call our community home. Major employers are in the poultry and defense contracting businesses.

Forest United Methodist Church was founded in 1861. The church has made a difference in the lives of those who attend and an impact in the community for almost 160 years.

Our worship is “traditional.” An organ is played as we sing. We sing from the United Methodist Hymnal. The Apostles Creed, the Lord’s Prayer and the Doxology are a part of our regular worship. We enjoy a strong music program, with adult and children’s choirs adding to our worship.

We have Sunday School for all ages, to deepen the faith of those who attend. United Methodist Men and Women groups are active. We have periodic bible studies throughout the year.

Fellowship here is warm and rich. We enjoy delicious meals together.

A Prayer Chain is active and offers prayers for members, family and friends. Prayers are offered for people nearby and faraway.

Forest United Methodist Church is active in mission. Thanksgiving and Christmas lunches are open to the community and anyone who happens by. Meals those days also go to area hospitals, jails, law enforcement and fire fighters. We have a working relationship with Trinity Mission, a United Methodist outreach to Forest’s Hispanic population. Monthly birthday parties are held at a local care facility.

Forest United Methodist Church has a long history of serving for Christ. That tradition continues today. Our mission is: Grounding, Growing and Giving. We are living into our mission daily.

If you are new to the Forest community, we invite you to be our guest. If you are looking for a church family to be a part of, we welcome you to attend. No matter your prior religious experience, whether you’ve attended church all your life or you’ll be coming for the first time, you are welcome here!
